Joseph M. Maher
Mr. Maher received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Kalamazoo College and his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Baltimore School of Law. Prior to law school, Mr. Maher worked with at-risk teenage youth in Chicago to develop their civic knowledge and awareness as an AmeriCorps volunteer.
During law school, Mr. Maher served as a Teaching Assistant and as the Articles Editor for the University of Baltimore Law Forum. Before serving as the Articles Editor for the Law Forum, Mr. Maher published two recent development articles as a Staff Editor entitled Marcantonio v. Moen, 39 U. BALT. L.F. 239 (2009), and Clancy v. King, 39 U. BALT. L.F. 90 (2008). Additionally, Mr. Maher, as a Rule 16 Student Attorney, represented individuals in various civil matters with the law school’s Civil Advocacy Clinic.
After law school, Mr. Maher served as a judicial law clerk at the trial level. This experience exposed him to a variety of contested matters, from complex civil cases (real property and business disputes) to highly contested family law cases (divorce, annulments, allocation of parental rights, child support, domestic violence, and complex property divisions).
Before joining Frie, Arndt & Danborn P.C., Mr. Maher worked exclusively in family law where he gained valuable trial experience. His experience allows him to help his client analyze their case and proceed in the manner that works best for them.
Mr. Maher, who is licensed to practice in both Maryland and Colorado, focuses his practice on family law, but also represents clients in general civil matters. He was named as a Super Lawyers Rising Star from 2013 through 2019.
